Elenanna Stratou

First violins - Academy

Eleanna Stratou was born in Greece in 2001 and began studying the violin with Natalia Volckening at the age of seven. From the age of 15, she continued her musical training with Georgios Demertzis in Athens. In July 2023, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree (violin / artistic performance) from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich, where she studied with Lena Neudauer on a scholarship. Since September 2023, she has been studying solo violin for a master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where she joined Mihaela Martin’s class. Her musical education was enriched by master courses with Christoph Poppen, Iason Keramidis, Benjamin Schmid, Ariadne Daskalakis, Pierre Colombet and the Quatuor Ébène. As a chamber musician, she has performed in Germany, Greece, France, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Portugal and Austria. She is the winner of numerous prizes: she won the First Prize at the Panhellenic Competition Filon in Athens (2016), the First Prize of the Athens State Orchestra for talented young musicians, part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation programme (2016), and the First Prize in the International Moscow Music Competition in the categories solo violin and piano trio (2020). Eleanna Stratou is a passionate chamber musician and has participated in numerous chamber music festivals. She has been a member of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra, performing at Young Euro Classic at the Konzerthaus Berlin in 2023, among others. She has also played as a substitute with the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Greek National Radio Symphony Orchestra. Eleanna Stratou was a member of the string quartet that gave the world premiere of the String Quartet op. 81b by the composer Nimrod Borenstein at the Greek National Opera Hall, in cooperation with Carnegie Hall. She was a member of the Ensemble Oktopus for Modern Music under the baton of Konstantia Gourzi, with which she recorded works by Wilhelm Killmayer, Yevhen Stankovych and Melinda Wagner for the Bavarian Radio. She enrolled as a law student at the National and Capodistrian University in Athens in 2019. Since September 2024, she has been a member of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy.
