Valeria Pasternak was born in Weimar. At the age of six, she was given her first violin classes by Natalija Drujan in her home town, Khmelnytskyi (Ukraine). From 1994 to 2006, she studied at the music secondary school in Lviv (Ukraine) under Oksana Tsap; from 2006 to 2011, she continued her studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim under Roman Nodel. Valeria Pasternak won numerous awards at competitions for young musicians, including second prize at the Young Virtuosos competition in Wrocław (Poland), the Grand Prix in the chamber music category at the Art of the 21stCentury international competition in Kiev (Ukraine), and second prize at the Andrea Postacchini competition in Italy. Valeria has given concerts as a soloist and chamber musician, including, for example, with Sumi Jo at the Seoul Art Center. From 2009 to 2011, she was a member of the orchestra of the Nationaltheater in Mannheim; from 2011 to 2013, she was a member of the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen. She has played in the Luxembourg Philharmonic since September 2013.
