It is worth mentioning the pianist’s venerable age (81 at the time of his concert at the Philharmonie) if only to underscore the experience that invisibly permeates his interpretations. Ever since his debut, alongside Ron Carter among others, he has embodied a tradition of pianistic jazz that has firmly entered the 21st century, without ever relinquishing the powerful swing component.
