Gabriela Fragner was born in Belgium and grew up in multilingual surroundings. She studied at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Mons and the Royal Brussels Conservatory and later at the Folkwang Hochschule für Musik in Essen, Germany. During this time, she was selected to play with the Jeunesse Musicale World Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. Before joining the Luxembourg Philharmonic in 2003, she worked as a freelance musician for many orchestras and ensembles in Belgium and the Netherlands. For several years, she has enjoyed playing in the unconventional double bass quartet BassPanic, which also performs regularly for the EME Foundation.
