Existential questions in music.
In life, it’s not always the answers, but the unsolvable questions that need to be faced. In his most famous composition, The Unanswered Question, Charles Ives posed the «eternal question of existence». Dmitri Shostakovich also addressed the great philosophical questions of a human life in his last symphony.
