A story of faith and hope: a young woman is humiliated by others, but never loses her kind heart. Magical creatures ensure that the young woman experiences a sumptuous night at the ball, where she meets a prince. Their encounter is brief, but the prince goes in search of her and finally finds the woman he has been unable to forget since the ball. Not only because a ball is at the centre of attention, the obvious manner of recounting this story is with dancers, and Sergei Prokofiev wrote music for this ballet which will leave the audience tapping its toes – at the very least.
